I’m a travel writer living in Somerset and specialising in Eastern Europe and Britain. I have been fascinated by the Balkans since living in Serbia, and travelling around the region, in the late 1990s, though increasingly I find myself travelling around home shores.

 

I started writing for Rough Guides more than twenty years ago, with my first commission being an update to Romania, before I wrote my first title, Slovenia, from scratch. Since then I’ve gone on to author, or co-author, around a dozen books for Rough Guides, including Wales and Scotland.

 

My most recent guidebook, Slow Somerset, has just been published by Bradt, with Montenegro due to follow this autumn. I have also written articles for the Independent and Guardian newspapers. I am also a professional proofreader.
